Apple iPhone and iPad Corporate Domination – Android Losing

| April 28, 2012 | 0 Comments

A new report has made its way online from a software company called ‘Good‘, who has their services implemented through multiple platforms within a massive network of enterprise and corporate customers worldwide. Good has analyzed activated smartphones and tablet devices through these networks and found that Apple is killing it in the business realm. Much like you see Windows PC domination within the workplace, Apple has found a way into the corporate sectors by skipping the desktop and laptop deployments, and heading straight for the mobile needs of Fortune 500 companies.

As seen above, Apple’s iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPad 3, iPad and iPhone 3GS, (the last 3 generations of devices) are out pacing any of the most popular Android devices. The funny thing about that is the Apple iOS devices new to 3 years old are still doing better than the 1 year old Android like the Galaxy S II. The deployment by OS ratio is iOS at 80% versus Android devices at 20% month over month for the last quarter of 2012.

The image above here shows that Android tablets are a complete failure in the corporate realm. It is worthy to note that Apple just reported another record quarter, and getting the top companies in the world to buy into your products is a sure way to continue putting large amounts of money in the bank. Good’s numbers reported above are from 94% of the Fortune 500 list and 75% of the Global 500 list.

With the iPhone 5 launch drawing ever nearer in 2012, there’s no question that these numbers will increase as it seems Apple is unstoppable, despite some claims that they are simply riding on Steve Jobs’ innovative train through 2013.

The iPhone 5 (sixth generation iPhone) is expected to have in-cell touchscreen technology making it easier to maintain a thin body while having more room inside to fill with higher spec hardware. A liquid-metal casing is also expected as opposed to the glass outer casing, and 4G/LTE is expected to be included with a 12 megapixel camera, 4inch screen and quad-core Apple A6 chipset.

Samsung Galaxy S III Images Are Online

| April 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

Last week, a site called “tinhte.vn” got images to the next Galaxy S device, specifically the Samsung model number “GT-i9300″. The blog no longer has the images or content available online, but Engadget was able to get copies of the images which you can see above and below. The images clearly show the model number “GT-i9300″, along with the Android version 4.0.3 ICS installed and running.

Whether this is in fact the actual Galaxy S III we will see announced May 3rd in London is another story, as Samsung is known to have many model numbers for the same family of devices. The Galaxy S II is a prime example of that. Some of the models have less specs, while others are with added features such as 4G/LTE connection bands. Regardless, this model shown is cited as being within the next Galaxy S III line of devices, but the casing seems to be similar to previous devices. “What about the unibody ceramic casing we heard about?” you may ask. Well, apparently Samsung may be ahead of the game, and put a fake casing around the guts of the device we see here to ensure that the REAL casing is unveiled only at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event, and not leaked online beforehand.

Well played Samsung…well played.

Samsung Releases Teaser Video for Next Galaxy Device

| April 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

The next Samsung Galaxy device is right around the corner, and will be announced on May 3rd in London. The “Next Galaxy” from Samsung has also been chosen as the official smartphone of the 2012 Olympics. As the hype keeps building around the new competitor in the ring to the Apple iPhone 4S, Samsung keeps the carrots dangling in front of all us technology rabbits (not to be confused with ‘sheep’ as we’ll see in the video below).

At the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event, we’ll finally hear about a device that claims the following;

  • Truly smart technology becomes a natural part of life.
  • Where a galaxy fits perfectly into your hand.
  • Your view of the world grows even wider.
  • As you gain the power to explore it freely and swiftly.
  • With technology that fits in this easily, you can now stand out from…everyone else.

Samsung is dropping a few hints with the statements above in their latest teaser video, but what we know is that the next Galaxy device will have a quad-core Exynos processor, 16GB internal storage (another 32GB expandable micro SD), 12 megapixel rear camera, full 1080p video capabilities with a 4.7inch Super AMOLED Plus HD screen, Android 4.0 ICS out of the box and 4G/LTE bands. What we could take from the teaser is that they will be ensuring the case design fits easily into your hands, most likely referring to the ceramic unibody we heard about here. Also, the design may include color options as well, making it appear easily different than the Apple iPhone users (sheep in the teaser video).

New iPhone 5 May Use In-Cell Touch Panel Display

| April 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

There’s been a few new rumors surrounding the launch of the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5) as of late. We had just heard about the possibility of the next iPhone having a new ‘liquid metal’ casing, which would make the uni-body outer casing thinner and lighter, thus allowing for more hardware to get packed inside without it getting too heavy for one’s mobility. This would keep things consistent from Apple claims with every new iPhone or iOS product that they are ‘thinner’, ‘lighter’ and ‘faster’.

Helping Apple keep those claims for the iPhone 5 launch expected in Q3 2012, the latest rumor coming from within Apple’s supply chain, is that the next generation iPhone will move to a new “in-cell” touch panel display. This new display technology is lighter and thinner than the Retina displays previously used in iPhone models. Again, this will make it easier to pack the inside of the casing with more hardware, without worrying about the overall weight of the iPhone.

The current displays in the iPhone 4 and 4S involves a layer of sensing glass on the outside of an inner LCD screen. This capacitive touchscreen makes it thicker as it has two layers and an extra step in the assembly line. Moving to the single layer in-cell touch panel would remove a step in production as well, speeding up the manufacturing process. When you manufacture 30 million iPhone devices, saving 2 seconds becomes a large amount.

iPhone 5 May Be LiquidMetal Design Update at WWDC 2012

| April 19, 2012 | 0 Comments

We had heard about there being a redesign to the next generation iPhone, and that it will likely show itself in the Fall 2012. The new design was stated as being a ‘new sleek look’. Apple has also recently been reported working with French Designer Philippe Starck for a “Revolutionary” new product for 2012. Will the two reports be dealing with the new statement found regarding the iPhone 5 redesign?

Korean news site etnews is stating that they have it on good word Apple is going to be using a combination of light sturdy metals to create a ‘liquidmetal’ look and feel to the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5). Not to be confused with the T-1000 from Terminator 2:Judgement Day, the new iPhone 5 casing will be composed of “amorphous metal alloys” as highlighted from the story below;

iPhone5 is likely to take liquid metal, an alloy of zirconium, titanium, nickel, copper and so forth having an outer surface smooth like liquid. The new iPhone is expected to make its debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco in June.

Adding to the rumors of a newly designed iPhone 5, there is word that we’ll also get to see this device from Apple at their WWDC event in June 2012. If that’s the case (see what I did there), then we could be looking at a Q3 launch after all.

Samsung Schedules Galaxy S III Announcement

| April 16, 2012 | 0 Comments

Samsung let the world know that it plans on announcing and unveiling the next Galaxy device (Galaxy S III) on May 3rd 2012. The event will take place in London at a press conference by invite. This happens to be the next Samsung’s Mobile “Unpacked” event, where in past events, Samsung has not only focused on one device launch, but has shown their next wave of mobile products, including software upgrades and apps.

The Galaxy S III is believed to be the name of the next Galaxy device, despite it not specifically being named on the invite seen above. Regardless, the Galaxy S III device is rumored to have a huge 4.8inch Super AMOLED HD touchscreen with full 1080p display capabilities. Other specs include an 12 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor (not the Tegra 3), and a unibody ceramic casing as opposed to the plastic casing from earlier Galaxy devices. It will be running Android 4.0.4 ICS at the time of launch, which has been expected to drop into most carriers sometime in June 2012.

iPhone 5 Reportedly Coming In Fall 2012 With ‘Sleek Look’

| April 10, 2012 | 0 Comments

There’s no denying that Apple is on a serious roll when it comes to product launches over the past decade. With Apple (AAPL) trading well over $630 on the NYSE, and the 3rd generation new iPad out on the market for the last month, the next big launch will keep the ball rolling.

Many are questioning what the next iPhone will have in store when it launches later this year. There have been rumors that the next iPhone will sport a much larger screen (some say 4.6inches), but anyone that knows Apple or read the Steve Jobs biography for that matter, knows that Jobs was against a larger screen on the iphone. Steve Jobs was also still very involved with the overall planning of the iPhone 5 just prior to his untimely passing in 2011, so what the iPhone 5 will have in it will be nothing short of another amazing product.

An analyst for Topeka Capitol Markets reported on Monday what he believes Apple will be including with the next generation iPhone to investors. Brian White stated that Apple’s stock price could go over $1000 as well. Regarding the next iPhone, White said it is expected to have a 4inch touchscreen display and a “new, sleek look” pointing towards a unibody case. Apple is known for its ability to create unibody casings for many f its other products including the MacBook line, Man Mini, and Apple TV.

The timing of the launch is one of the many other reasons for rumors around the iPhone 5, and one Foxconn employee went on record stating that the 6th generation iPhone will launch in October 2012. The Foxconn executive stated;

We just got the order,[The release] will be around October.

Other details in specs for the new iPhone include 4G/LTE, 1GB RAM, and the latest Apple dual-core A5X processor.
