New iPhone 5 May Use In-Cell Touch Panel Display

| April 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

There’s been a few new rumors surrounding the launch of the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5) as of late. We had just heard about the possibility of the next iPhone having a new ‘liquid metal’ casing, which would make the uni-body outer casing thinner and lighter, thus allowing for more hardware to get packed inside without it getting too heavy for one’s mobility. This would keep things consistent from Apple claims with every new iPhone or iOS product that they are ‘thinner’, ‘lighter’ and ‘faster’.

Helping Apple keep those claims for the iPhone 5 launch expected in Q3 2012, the latest rumor coming from within Apple’s supply chain, is that the next generation iPhone will move to a new “in-cell” touch panel display. This new display technology is lighter and thinner than the Retina displays previously used in iPhone models. Again, this will make it easier to pack the inside of the casing with more hardware, without worrying about the overall weight of the iPhone.

The current displays in the iPhone 4 and 4S involves a layer of sensing glass on the outside of an inner LCD screen. This capacitive touchscreen makes it thicker as it has two layers and an extra step in the assembly line. Moving to the single layer in-cell touch panel would remove a step in production as well, speeding up the manufacturing process. When you manufacture 30 million iPhone devices, saving 2 seconds becomes a large amount.

iPhone 5 May Be LiquidMetal Design Update at WWDC 2012

| April 19, 2012 | 0 Comments

We had heard about there being a redesign to the next generation iPhone, and that it will likely show itself in the Fall 2012. The new design was stated as being a ‘new sleek look’. Apple has also recently been reported working with French Designer Philippe Starck for a “Revolutionary” new product for 2012. Will the two reports be dealing with the new statement found regarding the iPhone 5 redesign?

Korean news site etnews is stating that they have it on good word Apple is going to be using a combination of light sturdy metals to create a ‘liquidmetal’ look and feel to the next generation iPhone (iPhone 5). Not to be confused with the T-1000 from Terminator 2:Judgement Day, the new iPhone 5 casing will be composed of “amorphous metal alloys” as highlighted from the story below;

iPhone5 is likely to take liquid metal, an alloy of zirconium, titanium, nickel, copper and so forth having an outer surface smooth like liquid. The new iPhone is expected to make its debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco in June.

Adding to the rumors of a newly designed iPhone 5, there is word that we’ll also get to see this device from Apple at their WWDC event in June 2012. If that’s the case (see what I did there), then we could be looking at a Q3 launch after all.

Samsung Schedules Galaxy S III Announcement

| April 16, 2012 | 0 Comments

Samsung let the world know that it plans on announcing and unveiling the next Galaxy device (Galaxy S III) on May 3rd 2012. The event will take place in London at a press conference by invite. This happens to be the next Samsung’s Mobile “Unpacked” event, where in past events, Samsung has not only focused on one device launch, but has shown their next wave of mobile products, including software upgrades and apps.

The Galaxy S III is believed to be the name of the next Galaxy device, despite it not specifically being named on the invite seen above. Regardless, the Galaxy S III device is rumored to have a huge 4.8inch Super AMOLED HD touchscreen with full 1080p display capabilities. Other specs include an 12 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor (not the Tegra 3), and a unibody ceramic casing as opposed to the plastic casing from earlier Galaxy devices. It will be running Android 4.0.4 ICS at the time of launch, which has been expected to drop into most carriers sometime in June 2012.

Apple iPad Mini Coming in Q3 2012 before Windows 8 Tablets

| April 16, 2012 | 0 Comments

Before the time of tablets and smartphones, a war raged between two technology giants. The PC era was dominated by Apple versus Microsoft, and we may very well see that war again in the “Post-PC Era” of technology. The iPad reigns supreme over Android and BlackBerry tablets, in fact, neither have come even close to challenging the sales figures of the Apple iPad generations. With Microsoft coming back into the game with Windows 8 tablets and PC operating systems, we may finally have a worthy opponent to the Apple iOS family. As Windows 8 launch looms ever nearer, Apple is getting their ‘ducks in a row’ to do battle once again.

We’ve heard about the rumors that Apple is planning an “iPad Mini” tablet which will be 7.85 inches in size. It was thought that this device will be to battle the 7inch tablets with Android and BlackBerry PlayBook OS. Really though, they don’t hold a candle to iOS, but Windows 8 would. All reports suggest that Apple will launch this new ‘Mini’ tablet under the $300 price to make it very competitive, which would basically force Microsoft into selling Windows 8 tablets under the same price line. The main difference however would be that Microsoft may not have a whole lot of control in dictating the sale prices of the Windows 8 tablets, as they are made by 3rd party manufacturers. Apple iPads are made by Apple (or at least manufacturers who build them with Apple’s full control).

Apple may already be testing these devices, and therefore, would be finalizing details on a release product soon. The latest report from NetEase shows Apple has 6 million units ready for launch in Q3 2012 (July – September). We’ll begin a new war for tablet dominance with the same two behemoths that started it 30 years ago.

iPhone 5 Reportedly Coming In Fall 2012 With ‘Sleek Look’

| April 10, 2012 | 0 Comments

There’s no denying that Apple is on a serious roll when it comes to product launches over the past decade. With Apple (AAPL) trading well over $630 on the NYSE, and the 3rd generation new iPad out on the market for the last month, the next big launch will keep the ball rolling.

Many are questioning what the next iPhone will have in store when it launches later this year. There have been rumors that the next iPhone will sport a much larger screen (some say 4.6inches), but anyone that knows Apple or read the Steve Jobs biography for that matter, knows that Jobs was against a larger screen on the iphone. Steve Jobs was also still very involved with the overall planning of the iPhone 5 just prior to his untimely passing in 2011, so what the iPhone 5 will have in it will be nothing short of another amazing product.

An analyst for Topeka Capitol Markets reported on Monday what he believes Apple will be including with the next generation iPhone to investors. Brian White stated that Apple’s stock price could go over $1000 as well. Regarding the next iPhone, White said it is expected to have a 4inch touchscreen display and a “new, sleek look” pointing towards a unibody case. Apple is known for its ability to create unibody casings for many f its other products including the MacBook line, Man Mini, and Apple TV.

The timing of the launch is one of the many other reasons for rumors around the iPhone 5, and one Foxconn employee went on record stating that the 6th generation iPhone will launch in October 2012. The Foxconn executive stated;

We just got the order,[The release] will be around October.

Other details in specs for the new iPhone include 4G/LTE, 1GB RAM, and the latest Apple dual-core A5X processor.

The app is free, as it is for iOS devices, and has mnay of the same features and filters. It allows you to share your photos to your friends and followers through facebook, twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare. Unlike the iPS version however, there is no integrated Flickr sharing (yet) and no way to blur part of the photos and no way to tilt. Possibly, we’ll see those additions in later updates to the app.

If you have an Android device and have been waiting for this day, go grab it by clicking the Source link below and start sharing those awesome photos!

Google Comment System Launch To Battle facebook

| March 28, 2012 | 0 Comments

After the great start to Google+ in the social media and networking realm, a fire got lit in facebooks development pants. Since then, it seems facebook has been on a mission to ensure they don’t let competitors try to steal their existing ‘Mojo’ by putting out features they didn’t think to develop for their users. Google+ since has slowed down dramatically, while facebook roars ahead once again, leaving Google+ behind to suck their wake.

I was a fan of Google+ when it first arrived, seeing it as a new opportunity to keep social netowrking simple and easy to use. There are parts of it I still use, like the instant upload for pictures taken from my mobile devices. Other than though, facebook is still supreme, and I rarely check my Google+ feeds anymore. “Why?”, you may ask. It’s simple. ..whats the point of social networking when there isn’t anyone to be social with. Everyone is still on facebook.

This begs the question then, back to the purpose of this news article, why would Google try to oust facebook again after being so brutally defeated with Google+? For some reason, the folks at Mountain View in Google HQ seems to think that they have a better way to do comments. They plan on luanching a third party commenting system that will integrate with many existing social platforms we already use. Does this mean that they are accepting the failure of Google+ and finding ways to grab users within other ecosystems? Possibly, which is what they should have done from the start.

The new comment system is reportedly built to include Google+, Google Search and other web services in Goog’s back pocket. This may be the new strategy to get people interested in Google+ again, though it’s a slick and tricky way to go about it.
