Apple iPad 3 Back Housing Shows Upgrades

The image you see above shows us the back housing inside the iPad 2 and the iPad 3 comparatively. At RepairLabs, they were able to obtain images from an industry insider in China. After analyzing the images, there are a few noticeable differences between the two back housings, but both remain in the same size of housing. This would point to the iPad 3 being the same size and shape as the iPad 3.

The details on what is seen as different have been circled on both images. Here’s the findings;

• A – The Mounts for the iPad 3 logic board are different, most likely to make more room for other upgrades and parts.
• B – The battery area shows that the rumors heard about a larger battery may be correct as this shows one of the concessions the logic board spacing may have provided is an area for a larger battery slot.
• C – The camera is different, let’s hope that could mean it’s better at taking still images.
• D – The LCD mount is different, suggesting that the LCD would be a different type, again, we can only hope larger as it’s rumored to have the largest resolution on any tablet to date with 2048 x 1536 pixels on a 9.7 inch screen.

Let’s hope that we see all these improvements when the iPad 3 launches, which we’re all still waiting on from Apple.
